Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu

Beginning with the first Ultimate Fighting Championships in 1993, martial artists of all different styles, backgrounds, and weight classes were able to pit their skills against each other in the ring. It was a rude awakening for many. A horde of martial artists who considered themselves invincible were soon tapping out. These events finally answered the question being asked by martial artists for decades - Which martial arts work the best? Answer: Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

Since then, the martial arts have evolved more in the last 10 years than they have in over 250 years prior to 1993. Jiu-Jitsu was originally developed in India, but wasn’t popular until it was brought to Japan in the late 17th century. It was an art of self-defense that included joint locks, throws, chokes, and other grappling manipulations used to force their opponent to submit. The greatest aspect of Jiu-Jitsu is that it relies on technique and leverage rather than strength.

In the early 1900’s, many Japanese migrated to Rio De Jineiro. One of them taught his art to a Brazilian and his sons (the Gracie Family). The Brazilians were eager to learn to help them win their “No Holds Barred” matches which were popular in Rio. The Brazilian fighters found that Jiu-Jitsu gave them the technical abilities to win these matches. That, and the fact that the Gracie family was smaller in stature. As the years went on, the Brazilians began modifying the art and ridding it of any impractical techniques. The unbeatable art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu was born.

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, also known as Gracie Jiu-Jitsu, is especially efficient and works well for everyone, regardless of power or strength, making Jiu-Jitsu the ideal self-defense for smaller, older or less physical people.

It is a fact that 90% of all fights go to a "clinch" where two people are grabbing each other and that 80% end up on the ground either by accident or by design! Obviously, Jiu-Jitsu needs to be learned in order to defend yourself properly.

Every BJJ class includes dynamic and fun exercises that will boost your metabolism, help you build strength and endurance, gain flexibility and shoot your cardio through the roof! Because the core controls many of the movements in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, core exercises are a big part of every class. Yoga poses are also incorporated into every martial arts class we teach at our schools to increase flexibility, improve breathing, decrease stress and prevent injuries.

Daddis Fight Camps are a part of a network of some of the top Jiu-Jitsu Schools. This group of schools is under the guidance of Lloyd Irvin and Jared Weiner, two world class Jiu-Jitsu Black Belts.

Muay Thai Kickboxing
Muay Thai

Muay Thai Kickboxing is known as “the art of eight limbs.” This is because the art utilizes one’s hands, elbows, knees and feet in devastating fashion. The national sport of Thailand, it’s popularity has spread throughout the world after proving itself in the ring time and time again. Muay Thai is commonly seen in events such as The K-1 Fighting championships. But for centuries the art of Muay Thai (Thai Boxing) has been the most effective stand-up combat art in the world and its fighters unrivaled in the ring. Hundreds of thousands of fans can attest to the power and fury a Thai Boxer can unleash on his or her opponent.

Daddis Fight Camps go beyond the mental and physical conditioning of training and deliver a look at Thai culture. The importance of understanding the heritage and philosophy is equally as important as developing well rounded fighting skills. It is fascinating. During your training, your Fairtex Certified instructor will not only explain the technical aspects of Muay Thai movements, but also the theories behind the application and fight strategy.

In this class, you will also learn the best of boxing including footwork, lightning fast punch combinations, slipping or evading punches and special tactics. Western style boxing is truly a martial art. That is why it will forever be known as “the sweet science”.

As a beginner, you will punch and kick pads and bags like there is no tomorrow. It is an awesome workout! Muay Thai is perfect for men and women looking for reliable and practical self-defense with superior cardio conditioning.

Muay Thai takes the best aspects of workouts used by some of the world's most finely conditioned athletes, fighters. It combines them into a fitness program that is safe for the mainstream exercise devotee. In other words, with Muay Thai Boxing, you train like a fighter in everything but full contact sparring (unless competition is your goal as well).

Muay Thai Boxing is definitely challenging. It works most of the human body's physiological systems. The musculoskeletal system becomes stronger through specialized resistance exercises and specific equipment drills. The cardio respiratory and vascular systems become more efficient through workouts that are more than 60% anaerobic. The central nervous system is trained to respond faster and more efficiently to punching combination drills.

Intensity is the trademark of a Muay Thai Boxing workout. As indicated above, it is more than 60% anaerobic. Many of the drills are made up of two or three minute rounds, with one minute recovery periods. You push through your current lactate threshold and improve it during the round, or anaerobic interval, by working at 85-90% of your maximum heart rate. During the one minute rest period, you learn to more efficiently recover your oxygen debt while simultaneously stretching and reviewing proper technique.

Strength gain is a natural byproduct of the Muay Thai Boxing workout. Fighters work with weights, specialized boxing equipment and plyometric devices in a manner that maximizes calorie burn to increase lean muscle mass. The fighter focuses on improving speed, strength, explosiveness and lactate threshold management while simultaneously keeping body fat at minimal levels.

Remaining injury free while improving total body fitness is one of the major benefits of a fighters program. As a cross training alternative, it provides a break in routine and adds variety to your overall training program. It distributes the load of training across various body parts. Mental toughness comes from learning to cope with the demands of a challenging workout. The more you work through a series of rounds that push you into your anaerobic zone, the better you will deal with intense endurance training or other demanding exercise routines.

Yoga poses are also incorporated into every martial arts class we teach at our schools to increase flexibility, improve breathing, decrease stress and prevent injuries.

Everyone involved in Mixed Martial Arts knows how important it is to be skilled in Muay Thai to get an edge on their opponent. There has been a constant evolution in the sport of Mixed Martial Arts and it is a fact that you will not be successful without the simplistic, yet effective techniques of Muay Thai. Here at the Daddis Training Centers, we teach modified Muay Thai for MMA competitors as well.

In the ring and on the street, Mauy Thai is notorious for it’s crippling leg kicks, razor sharp elbows, and explosive knee strikes. Sounds pretty scary, but the fact that it can all be practice safely is the best part about the art of Muay Thai!

Mixed Martial Arts
Mixed Martial Arts

Our Mixed Martial Arts Program allows you to come to all Muay Thai Kickboxing classes, all Jiu-Jitsu classes, all Submission Grappling classes and MMA classes.

Our MMA curriculum consists of a hybrid form of martial arts, which utilizes Brazilian jiu-jitsu, Submission Grappling, Russian Sambo, Freestyle and Greco Roman Wrestling, Muay Thai Kickboxing and Boxing, the proper way to strike from the ground as well as the most effective techniques from other styles of fighting. For "no rules" scenarios, we have to be adept at everything. There are 4 major ranges of fighting... punching and kicking range, clinching range and on the ground. Our MMA program covers every range and every possible scenario from each.

The Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Submission Wrestling and Muay Thai Kickboxing all compliment each other perfectly to create this well rounded art and program. The program is best for "no rules" competition because of the no-nonsense style employed and because it is effective and proven to work!!! Daddis Fight Camps Fighters are a testament to strength of the curriclum through their wins inside the cage and in the ring. Daddis Fight Camps have produced champions at the highest levels of the sport.

MMA is the evolution and revolution of the modern martial arts. MMA employs a wide range of striking and grappling tactics. Eighty percent of all altercations end up in "the clinch" or on the ground. This is where our Jiu-Jitsu technique is necessary. Or, if we decide to impose our will and stay on our feet, we can end the fight in seconds by delivering thunderous Muay Thai knees, razor sharp elbow strikes, crippling kicks and knock out power punches.

Daddis Fight Camps brings in the best fighters and instructors in the world for seminars including the likes of Royler Gracie, Murilo "Ninja" Rua, Mauricio "Shogun" Rua, Wellington "Megaton" Dias, Ricardo "Big Dog" Almeida, Kenny Florian, Carlos Machado, Pat Miletich and many other greats in the sport.

Because the foundation of MMA is a combination of striking and grappling, students who enroll in our MMA program are also entitled and required to take all Muay Thai and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu classes, which are important as they form the foundation for MMA. Yoga poses are also incorporated into every martial arts class we teach at our schools to increase flexibility, improve breathing, decrease stress and prevent injuries.

We finally know what works. Don't wait to try your free first lesson. You can easily learn this style of martial art while getting the best workout on the planet at Daddis Training Centers!

Tactical Urban Defense
Tactical Urban Defense

Let's face it, the world isn't getting any safer.   Just take a look at the local news and it is a quick reminder of how violent and brutal society can be.    Muggings, Assaults with weapons or multiple attackers is common place in many urban areas and even suburban areas as of late.   Nothing is more important than being able to protect yourself and your family if threatened with a violent attack.   Technique is only half of the battle.   One's "mindset" is equally important when threatened.   This needs to be learned and trained just like technique.  You will do learn both in our Tactical Urban Defense Course.   You'll take comfort knowing that you can protect your family if need be and walk away from this personal defense course feeling empowered.

What does Tactical Urban Defense consist of?  Practical self-defense, armed and unarmed defense and offense, close quarters combat, self defense scenario training, physical conditioning, escapes from commonly used holds, self defense psychology, mental conditioning, controlling fear, panic and adrenaline, "fight stoppers", verbal tactics, defense against multiple attackers, using everyday objects as weapons and much more!  Some of the martial art techniques you will use in the course originate from Modified MMA, Krav Maga and Gracie Jiu-Jitsu.   But, we consider T.U.D to be less of a martial arts class and more of a combat survival class.   The tactical and fighting techniques used in the class are the same being used by U.S. Special Forces, Israeli Military, Private Security And Dignitary Protection Contractors In Iraq And Afghanistan and S.W.A.T. Teams across America.   The techniques used in the class are "battle tested" and proven to work.

Special Operations and Navy Seals a like need to be specialists in dealing with counterinsurgency and gorilla warfare in urban settings.  Special Forces and Navy SEALS have many aspects of training to deal with. Their duties are not limited to self-defense. They must learn everything from extraction, to underwater training, to intelligence gathering, special reconnaissance, counter terrorism and more! They simply don't have a lot of time to invest in self-defense alone. They need a system that will teach them quickly and effectively
how to deal with assault scenarios. Like Special Forces training, our course omits any technique that will not work or that does not have a high percentage effective rate. No fancy martial arts techniques just to look pretty. Simply what gets the job done and is quick and easy to learn.

Reality based training and simple, practical technique is the key ingredient in our Tactical Urban Defense Course.   The course is designed to teach you self-defense and like many special operations teams,  in the shortest amount of time possible.  The class is perfect for people who are too busy to commit to a full time martial arts class.   We provide tactical solutions to violent assault scenarios that will help students to stay calm, be decisive and react accordingly to a violent encounter.    Learning how to control the "Adrenaline Dump" created by the body's "flight or fight" response is paramount.   All of the technique in the world means nothing if you can't control your adrenaline response.   This course will show you why and how to deal with it and use it to your advantage.  A typical "self-defense" class won't teach you this.  We know more about the criminal mind now more than ever and how to successfully deal with it.   This course incorporates modern techniques that are proven to work.

The Tactical Urban Defense curriculum is especially effective in its use of defending against weapons. Gun, knife and blunt object threats are an example where the system practices realistic and safe training scenarios. Tactical Urban Defense is the perfect supplement to most “empty hand” martial arts that do not focus on defending against weapons.   It is a simple way to bridge the gap between fighting in a cage or a ring and fighting in the street.  It is recommended that this course be taken in conjunction with one of our full time martial arts programs, but not necessary.

T.U.D.'s primary focus is on personal safety for men and woman with or without prior self-defense training.  The first course is a level 1, 8 week course.  There is a level 2, 8 week course that is more advanced and a great follow up after the completion of level 1.  Urban Defense is the perfect way to round out your over all training as a martial artist. There will be no self-defense scenario you will not have prepared for.   Those who pass the course successfully  receive a Tactical Urban Defense medal and certificate of completion.  they will also be eligible to move on to level 2.

When forced to fight with no rules, you must be ready!

Kettlebell Classes
Kettlebell

How would you like a workout that is so efficient and effective that you could do it for only a half hour, 3 days per week? And, what if I told you it was more effective and more functional than just about any other possible work out? Sound interesting? If so, please read on.

Kettlebell training is a form of training that will not only improve the appearance of your physique, it will give you strength and mental toughness that you did not even know was possible. Imagine how much fat your will burn and how your muscular endurance will go through the roof. No doubt about it, high rep Kettlebell training is an aerobic/anaerobic workout and great alternative to traditional, boring cardio or weight lifting routines. You can accomplish in 30 minutes with Kbs what would normally take you twice as long on a treadmill or in the traditional weight room!

Efficiency is not about cutting corners—it’s about making the most out of your workout program, and getting the best results in the shortest amount of time. This leaves you free to do other things—whether they are spending time with your family or get in a few extra rounds on the heavy bag. And this is why MMA fighters such as Frank Shamrock, BJ Penn, and Fedor enhance their workouts with Kettlebells. Special Forces use KB's as well for their functionality and efficiency. Special Forces Units need to be in tip top shape, but must have available time to learn and train all of the other aspects of their job.

What Is A KettleBell?

A favorite tool of successful MMA fighters, a Kettlebell looks like a cannonball with a suitcase handle welded to the top. It’s a hunk of iron with a long, rich history that is virtually unknown in America. Kettlebells have been used for centuries in Eastern Europe and are beloved for the strength they impart.

Virtually unheard of in the West, Kettlebells were also extremely popular with early American and European bodybuilders and strongmen at the dawn of the 20th century. Behind the former Iron curtain, Kettlebell lifting developed into a closely followed sport with local, national and world championships. Luckily, Kettlebell training is now catching on as the hottest new trend in American fitness with a mainstream appeal for all fitness levels, ages and genders.

Why have they recently become so popular?

The reason—Core Training. Through the early nineties American weight training focused on targeting the individual muscle group with pure isolation. By the mid-nineties that philosophy gave way to functional training. Functional training promotes the concept that muscles should be worked in unison, creating a healthy, functional strength that better prepares the body for everyday activities including lifting up a suitcase to picking someone up and throwing them during an MMA or grappling match! This new fitness movement echoes what the early proponents of Kettlebell training knew long ago: workouts should have a purpose! The modern fitness establishment is again ready for Kettlebells, the ultimate in functional core training.

Perfect For Martial Artists

For hundreds of years, Kettlebell use has focused on muscle integration rather than isolation. Nearly every drill recruits multiple muscle groups to work in unison. The body is trained as a whole and particular emphasis is focused on the core and back muscles. Isn’t it interesting to see the “new” paradigm in American fitness shifting to a radical “new” philosophy of functional training? Kettlebells represent functional training in its purest sense.

Our Kettlebell class curriculum was designed by the famed Crossfit Organization (www.crossfit.com). “Kb’s” have proven themselves time and time again as the ultimate workout to increase muscle mass, muscle endurance, cardio, fat burning and metabolism. Our Crossfit certified instructors will direct your through each exercise during the class and know how to push each person to their individual limit.

Another great feature of KB training is that they help prevent injuries from martial arts training and sparring. They also help rehab many injuries as well and get you off the bench and back on the mat sooner.

To us here at Daddis Training Centers, there is no better workout than one that is quick, effective and that incorporates strength training, endurance and cardio all at the same time. You’ll burn calories like there is no tomorrow!

Our team of instructors simultaneously takes beginners, professional athletes, men and women beyond their known limits with Kettlebells.

Combat Conditioning
These Intense workouts that will have you in physical and mental condition to compete, whether you plan to or not. This class is free to existing members of our academies.

Using a combination of plyometric, isometric and cardiovascular exercises that will have you in the best shape of your life. The exercises come directly from Miletich Headquarters in Iowa and are the same exercises that the Ultimate Fighting Champions use. The great news is that this workout can be used for the average person not interested in Mixed Martial Arts Competition. The exercises are modified to push each individual 1% more each class. The strength training not only makes you stronger but builds muscle endurance as well. The exercises are sport specific and a lot of fun. There is a heavy emphasis on core training because of it's importance in the martial arts. Have you seen many fighters out of shape? Me either. This workout is simply the best!
